Well! If anyone who has read my blog and seen the photos of Deon’s 6th birthday in my last entry and wondered why in Singapore to get the beautiful cake for birthday parties… i now have an answer for you! But before that, you might be pondering if cupcakes are a good idea for birthday parties and… I’d say, absolutely yes!

If you recall, Kinetic Gal has long time ago recommended cupcakes in place of normal cakes for birthday parties.

Reason 1:

It’s beautiful! Yea that’s right – cupcake tiers can be very beautifully decorated and they can look really awesome.

Reason 2:

Less mess! It’s always messy when doing the cake cutting, and i have seen too many where mummies are trying to handle the children and trying to handle the cake cutting too.

Reason 3:

They are great for party giveaways. For some parties which do not have party bags, consider having the kids bring back a cupcake each. They look good and it’s great the kids get something to bring back for mummy to try too.

And now finally, the answer to the question: where to get the cupcakes? The particular one for Deon was from: Yummyumkins (http://www.yummyumkins.com/). I’ve had a look at their cup cake design and tier design and i must say again, the  cake tiers really look very awesome – i thought they look like centrepieces. :)

Check out some of their past beautiful cake tiers that they have created before!

I guess you could say that Kinetic Gal is very taken with their cake tiers! :P Highly recommended cupcake shop for birthday parties! If you’re looking for new ideas for cake, maybe you’d like to check out www.yummyumkins.com !

Sunday Birthday Parties Marathon for Kinetic Gal! September 21, 2009

Sunday was a birthday party marathon for Kinetic Gal!

I hosted a couple of parties back to back ending with a bigger party! The Bigger party was for 3 year old Jin who was very shy, but the party went great too! Josephine, Ryan and the children were wonderful enjoying the party with everyone making the party. :) My first was for Randall, turning 1 year old… I must say I enjoy doing parties for the young ones like these – his sweet sister made me promise that I’d be there for her party (well I really do hope so) and kept waving goodbye to me as I left. These young kids make my day, really.

Anyway, just right before the BIGGER party, I hosted a party for 6 year old Deon, who had an extremely nice birthday cake… Well, trust me, I have been to soooo many birthday parties, it takes a very exceptionally stunning cake to make me go wow.

A picture speaks more than a thousand words, so feast your eyes on the cakeok at that cake!

Look at that!

This is the most meticulously decorated and prepared cupcake tier I have seen for a birthday! Not only were there ponyo figurines on the tiers which were decorated with beads, each of the single cupcake had different figures and figurine on them. The lower tiered cupcakes had ponyo printed cartoons, while the upper tiered cake had nice cream and were for putting the candles!

A front view…

Usually Kinetic Gal would not have time to snap photos, BUT I just couldn’t resist! It was a beautiful cake (look at that table too!) and was really the centerpiece of attraction.

Here’s Deon with his mum, Janice!
What’s sweeter was what I got after the party too!

Lookee at that! :P (Apologies for that blurriness, i was really running for shows…)

I profess to not having watched Ponyo before (OMG yes but that’s true… I need more time than I have now!!!!)… so I guess that’s one character inside. Nevertheless, it was specially picked out for me by the mother (and I confess I checked out the kids’ cake which were most digital cartoon), so I was quite touched. It looks somewhat like me… I think. :D

You might recall reading on my writing of cupcakes for birthday parties before. (See my article on birthday cakes here) Personally I highly recommend this, because it makes the party much more fuss free! Some parents do not like it because there’s no so-called cake for cutting (major part of the ceremony) for which I’d recommend another type of cake cup tier which has a center cake (about 5” cake) which is reserved for family and cake cutting, while the surrounding cupcakes are for the children. It makes for very easy giving out (no trouble of cutting and getting a little messy) and also are great for the kids as they get one individual one each (no fighting!). And as you can see – you can have a WONDERFUL looking cake too!

Also as a personal observation, I’m starting to observe that for all my parties, balloon sculptures that I’ve given out are starting to look more and more complex! Nowadays, children do like to have a choice of their stuff… and I have, as a result, also start taking more spaced-out shows to ensure that I can cater to every one of the children at the party! Hence do check with me in advance if you’d like to enquire about a show… Kinetic Gal is going selective on the parties to give everyone a more quality party experience.

Alrightey, and that’s all for this week’s posting – it’s been a long and fun day!

For a few times now, Kinetic Gal has been having a little ‘trouble’ trying to leave the birthday parties – the little kiddos simply refuse to let me go! *grin*

Kinetic Gal had a full weekend just the last Saturday and Sunday for all the young ones turning one and two, all girls. :D Most parents have told me that they are very happy to have a girl host the party for their own little princesses and they feel safer having me at the party with young children! (refer to my past post here on why some parents might think so) It is indeed important that parents hire only people you are comfortable with and follow your gut feel when it comes to stuff related to your precious ones!

Anyway, these few birthday parties have been great fun and youngsters really take to me for some reasons unknown even to myself. :D

Little kiddo biting on the lollipop was unbelievably only three years old. He was my fantastic helper during the favourite audience participation segment. :D

Little Gal behind us later ’stole’ my handphone cos i was apparently using her mom’s phone (we use the same model! LOL!)

Kids having fun and so did I!

More and more parties coming up – i can’t wait! :)

G-Force in the Theatres, 4th September. September 6, 2009

G-Force!

3D movies seem to be all the rage these days! G-Force which was just released last week in Singapore theatres can also be watched in 3D.

In any case, G-FORCE is out in the theatres! It’s the September holidays for the p-schoolers all the way up to tertiary level, so movies are most probably going to be something that you’re looking at.

Brief Synopsis:

G-Force is a comedy adventure about the latest evolution of a covert government program to train animals to work in espionage. Armed with the latest high-tech spy equipment, these highly trained guinea pigs discover that the fate of the world is in their paws. Tapped for the G-Force are guinea pigs Darwin, the squad leader determined to succeed at all costs; Blaster, an outrageous weapons expert with tons of attitude and a love for all things extreme; and Juarez, a sexy martial arts pro; plus the literal fly-on-the-wall reconnaissance expert, Mooch, and a star-nosed mole, Speckles, the computer and information specialist.

Trailer:

Unfortunately G-Force seems to have garnered mostly negative movie reviews from everywhere across the globe. Not that the movie is not suitable for a family outing – most likely than not, it should be a fun movie outing, for the younger children, but only for them. Aside from the marveling of the improvements in technology that has allowed talking hamsters to look perfectly real (and interact with humans at the same time), the reviews have not revealed any much other satisfactory aspects of the movie.

That is really too bad, for i had caught the trailers and was hoping that the director would be focusing the movie beyond just the simple cute talking hamsters of which had seemed to be the main point of the movie. Coming after Pixar’s UP which had managed to still have a great storyline and engage adult and children alike, this movie, from the general reviews garnered, seems to be lacking of that aspect.

In summary, this movie seems to be a mix in talking animals (cute ones) with some spy action suitable for the young, and sufficient humour enough to make the children laugh. If you’d like to bring your young children out to the movies, you might want to consider this movie, it will definitely keep the children entertained… but parents would more than likely to be waiting for the time to pass in the cinema.

Gearing Up for MANY Birthday Parties to Come! September 6, 2009

This weekend has been a relatively relaxed weekend- a deliberate choice to do so, for the next upcoming weekends are going to be quite crazy… literally! In the upcoming weekends, i will be hosting 5-6 birthday parties over two days (both BIG and BIGGER packages) so i’d be really quite busy. In fact, my enquiries have more than gone past December. I have enquiries for shows up to May in 2010! No complains though – it’s great to be busy!

Just yesterday, i had a blast of time hosting the party for a pair of twins. The party was quite big, with 40 kids at the party, i nearly had difficulties churning out balloons within that short space of time for the children! :) They were all very happy with the balloons though (hearts with bears/ machine guns etc were HOT favourites)! It made my day to see the children leaving the party with big smiles on their faces. Ultimately, that’s one of the biggest rewards every single party.

Last month, i wrote for readers to look out for new changes and updates to be coming up for Mighty Magic Factory website. There’s been some slight delay with the bulk of things going on, but it’s coming up soon, so look out for that! In fact, Kinetic Gal is also looking at some revamp to this blogsite which will be my own pet project after the website update. And perhaps some more fun stuff upcoming too!

Stay tuned!
